Entre savane et forêt, le parc national W s’étend sur les frontières du Bénin, du Burkina Faso et du Niger sur plus d’un million d’hectares. Il représente à lui seul la biodiversité de la région et propose au voyageur de découvrir la faune variée de l’Afrique de l’Ouest.
Véritable patrimoine naturel, classé à l’UNESCO, découvrez les paysages splendides du parc W. Pendant la saison des pluies, les savanes arides verdissent et les animaux sont alors plus que jamais actifs. Eléphants, gazelles, poissons, buffles, vivent ici en toute liberté. L’homme est également un acteur essentiel de la région, puisque les premières traces de sa présence dans la zone remontent au Paléolithique. Depuis Cotonou, comptez tout de même 1600 kilomètres aller et retour.
Sachez toutefois qu’il existe sur place des campements, des bungalows et des lodges qui pour un prix raisonnable vous proposeront une halte agréable, à l’intérieur même du parc. Le 4X4 est fortement recommandé pour se déplacer. Veillez aussi à avoir avec vous de l’eau en quantité et des vétêments adéquats. Des parcours pédestres ou des balades en kayaks / pirogues sont également possibles, accompagnés d’un guide.
